She has almost 20 years’ experience in private practice working on a broad range of trade mark matters including searching, filing, portfolio management and enforcement.
After starting her IP career at the boutique IP practice John & Kernick, she spent 9 years at Adams & Adams, South Africa’s largest IP practice, where she was admitted as a partner. She moved to Australia in 2007 where she first joined Wrays and later moved to Herbert Smith Freehills where she was responsible for the majority of the IP matters in the Perth office.
Madeleen’s experience includes advising industrial and commercial enterprises, government agencies and universities on branding issues. She is a regular speaker for industry bodies.
In her spare time Madeleen likes to read and spend time with her family.
